Within the opulent inner court of the Kingdom of Ei lies the vibrant Maiden Court, where the empress and four imperial consorts are selected from five prominent clans. Among them, Reirin Kou, a pure consort-in-training, shines as the ideal candidate for the future empress. Her virtue and grace are unmatched, but she suffers from a frail constitution. In contrast, the rough Keigetsu Shu, who harbors bitter envy towards Reirin, is a disgrace to the Maiden Court. On the night of a rare comet sighting, Keigetsu's jealousy peaks, and she attempts to kill Reirin by pushing her off a balcony. Reirin is saved just in time, while Keigetsu is imprisoned to await execution. Unbeknownst to everyone, Keigetsu casts a spell to swap bodies with Reirin to take everything from her. However, as Keigetsu struggles in Reirin's weak body, Reirin seizes the opportunity to experience freedom and strength for the first time, determined to live—regardless of whose face she wears.
